Santorini day 1

Loving our villa in Megalochori!

SANTORINI DAY 1. Flying to Santorini was super smooth and a very quick journey, our plane lifted from Oslo’s airport at 06.00 in the morning and at 11.00 we landed in Santorini. It was probably one of the smallest and cutest little airports I have ever seen. There are not a lot of cabs in Santorini so I would advice you to prebook a car before arrival so you don’t have to stand in line for a cab for 1 hour upon arrival. After we picked up our luggage we jumped in to our car and our driver took us to our private villa in Megalochori that we had booked for the first 4 days of our Santorini trip. We booked our villas with Santorini Heritage Villas, they have 2 stunning properties right next to each other so we spend 2 night in Villa Sophia and 2 nights in Villa Kyani. This is the perfect alternativ if you are a group of friends that are thinking about going to Santorini together, you can rent both villas and stay 50 meters from each other and have 100% privacy. You get all the services of staying at a hotel, you have a maid coming to clean everyday, you can order catering for breakfast and dinner and you have a concierge service at your disposal 24/7.

During our first day in Santorini we relaxed, lounged by the pool, read some books, drank some Greek wine, tanned & bathed in the pool to cool off from the intense Greek heat, it was 32 degrees everyday and I could count 3 mini clouds during the 9 days that we were in Santorini. After spending a couple of hours lounging by the pool we had a late lunch at Argo, a restaurant with a stunning view over the caldera. We had some Greek salad and frutti di mare and just enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. This is my first time in Greece and so far it has given me nothing but very positive memories!

SANTORINI DAY 1.

Johan and I went hiking almost everyday, exploring new parts of Santorini!

Eating lunch at Argo the first day in Santorini!

We started the lunch with a Greek salad, of course!

Our private villa, Villa Sophia, was super cozy!

Reading a book, drinking Greek wine, soaking in the sun and plunging in to the pool once in a  while to cool off from the Greek heat!

The interior design was very rustic!

Johan and I made sure to adjust the sunbeds to where the sun was at throughout the day, such sun seekers!

Part of our living room at Villa Sophia!

Loving all the beautiful olive trees and flowers that was all over our courtyard!

I had a Greek vegetable lasagna for lunch at Argo, I have forgotten the name of it, what is it called?

The location of the Argo restaurant is quite lovely! We had a table with a stunning view over the caldera!

Johan had some frutti di mare at Argo! Not very Greek but sometimes you just crave pasta!

Stunning view over Santorini from our morning hike!

A cliffside restaurant is the best kind of restaurant in Santorini!

So glad that you are visiting and getting good impressions of my country! Santorini is breathtaking, and possibly the most beautiful island in Greece (and I come from another island myself so it¨s a big statement to make!).The only thing I wasnt crazy about were the beaches, but as I said I come from another greek island so I think it is just a matter of me being used to our own. Have a wonderful time with Johan and keep giving us these beautiful pictures to see here in cloudy Sweden! kram!

Hi Ellie! Thank you for your comment! I love Greece and I want to come back as soon as possible, I would love to discover Mykonos and Zakinthos next! They seem to have beautiful beaches, I absolutely agree with you regarding Santorini’s beaches, we kept us to the privacy of our own pool at the hotel. Do you have any recommendations of what Greek islands one should visit next? xoxo
