PETIT DÉJEUNER AT LES DEUX MAGOTS IN PARIS. It feels like I only eat croissants, baguettes and pastries when we are in Paris. It’s like I forget everything about vegetables and fruits, we do eat some fruits through marmalade or through a glas of orange juice but it feels like that’s about it.. I remember when I lived in Paris back in 2013 and payed 1,200 in rent each month for my apartment on Rue Jacob and had a pretty tight budget for food, perhaps 400 euro per month for food and mostly spending my money on trying different pastries which ate pretty much all of my daily food budget.. I remember buying a box of macarons feeling like such a luxury (One full box of macarons ranging between 20 – 30 euros) but I definitely thought it was worth it, living on croissants, baguettes, macarons, yoghurt, pastries and orange juice. Luckily when Johan came to visit me we cooked actual meals so I got some protein once in a while.
I also remember dreaming about eating breakfasts out at Les Deux Magots that I always passed when I walked to my local Monoprix in St Germain dess Pres. But I couldn’t motivate the cost of eating a breakfast for 25-30 euro. Sometimes it’s important to take a minute or two each day and just be greatful for the life you are living, sitting together at Les Deux Magots or Cafe de Flore each morning, eating those breakfasts for 20-30 euro per person each day, something I could only dream about back in 2013 when I was 22 years old. I’m so thankful and truly appreciate these small moments in life, I truly treasure them and enjoy them to the fullest. Thinking about that 22 year old Malin that would pass by the cafes where people would sit and eat their breakfast, dreaming that one day, I will be able to do that as well.
