A day at Chateau de Versailles

A DAY AT CHATEAU DE VERSAILLES. Something that both Johan and I love doing when we are abroad is to discover museums, exhibitions and castles. So during our last Paris trip we did 2 excursions, one to Chateau de Versailles and another excursion to Chateau de Fontainebleau. I have visited these castles before as I lived in Paris with my family when I was younger and we always used to do excursions during the weekends to different chateaus. Chateau de Fontainebleau is a personal favourite of mine, the interiors there is so well kept. During the French revolution the french people hated everything that had to do with Versailles and most of the furniture were auctioned off to extremely low prices (Lucky people who got a hold of those pieces..) and it has been hard for the French government to get a hold of the lost furniture of Versailles up to this day, they are still missing many pieces. It was also very close that the Frenchmen decided during the revolution that Versailles would be demolished but luckily this proposal didn’t go through. It would have been so horrible for this amazing piece of history to be demolished to the ground.

In this post I show you some of my favourites from both Chateau de Versailles and Chateau de Fontainebleau. I hope you enjoy the images! I always get so inspired when I visit these castles, they fill me up with so much inspiration and energy! It’s art absolutely everywhere you look!

A DAY AT CHATEAU DE VERSAILLES. Något som både jag och Johan älskar att göra när vi är ute och reser är att besöka olika slott, museum och utställningar som är aktuella i just de städerna som vi befinner oss i. När vi är i Paris så dras vi extra mycket åt att besöka alla de fantastiska slott som finns i Paris samt Paris närområde. Jag har hunnit besöka de flesta slott i Parisområdet med familjen under tiden vi bodde i Paris när jag var yngre men man kan aldrig besöka slott för många gånger, jag blir alltid lika inspirerad av ett slottsbesök.

Under den här resan till Paris så besökte vi både Chateau de Versailles samt Chateau de Fontainebleau, mitt personliga favoritslott är Chateau de Fintainebleau, det är så otroligt välbevarat. Tyvärr så auktionerades mycket möbler från Versailles ut under den franska revolutionen då fransmännen avskydde precis allt som Versailles stod för och det har varit svårt att lokalisera alla möbler för att kunna köpa tillbaka dom. Det var även otroligt nära att Versailles inte hade funnits idag då det fanns planer på att de skulle riva hela slottet (Även detta i samband med revolutionen). Men som tur var så gick det inte igenom och denna kulturhistoria kan gå vidare till kommande generationer vilket är fantastiskt. I detta inlägg så kommer en blandning utav bilder från Versailles samt Fontainebleau, lite olika personliga favoriter.
