A British Sunday luncheon

My first British luncheon at The Goring!

A BRITISH SUNDAY LUNCHEON. A classic British Sunday roast usually intales roasted meat, roast potato with accompaniments such as Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. The Goring has created its own version of the classic Sunday roast, a slightly more refined version under the direction of Executive Chef Shay Cooper. They were awarded with their first Guide Michelin star back in 2015, well deserved, the dining room at The Goring executes classic British dishes in a refined and modern way. Johan was the one of us that got closest to the more classic Sunday roast by ordering the chicken with gravy, I don’t eat meat anymore but it looked amazing! I on the other hand ordered their cod which was a beautiful experience that I was so happy with, the thing I loved the most with the dish was the fried oyster on top of the cod! I have never eaten a fried oyster in my life before, I actually don’t even enjoy oysters that much but my oh my, fried oysters is a marvellous thing! Now I need do find a restaurant in Stockholm that serves fried oysters asap, my mouth is watering just by thinking about it! It’s not very often that I get surprised by a dessert but I must say that they have created stunning desserts that you can’t miss, I had their cornish clotted cream mousse, apple sorbet with caramelised hazelnuts and I was in awe, stunning textures and flavours, my taste buds were cheering with joy!

A BRITISH SUNDAY LUNCHEON.

Rate: 4+/5

Don’t miss: The British asparagus with sea trout (Starter) and the cod with a fried oyster (Maincourse).

Service: Professional and kind service all the way through!

Remark: We had to wait a little too long between the starter and the main course (Approximately 20-25 minutes) but other than that everything was lovely.

Price: From £50.00 per person for a 3 course lunch menu (Not including beverage).

Location: 15 Beeston Place, London

Johan’s starter: Hereford beef tartare, beer pickled onions, mushroom ketchup!

Johan enjoying his Goring blend to the fullest!

English asparagus, buttermilk, sea trout, cured mullet roe!

My divine cod with a fried oyster on top! Such a beautifully executed dish!

Johan’s main course: Confit egg yolk, crisp chicken wings, caramelised cauliflower, Iberico ham.

Still enjoying his cup of Goring tea blend!

Johan’s dessert: Manjari chocolate, milk jam, salt caramel mousse, milk ice cream.

My dessert: Cornish clotted cream mousse, apple sorbet, caramelised hazelnuts.
