My childhood home in St Germain en Laye

MY CHILDHOOD HOME IN ST GERMAIN EN LAYE. This post will be slightly different from my regular posts, this one will be a bit more personal as I will take you with me down memory lane and show you my old childhood home where I lived with my family when we lived in Paris as a tiny little teenager, the years we lived in Paris really shaped me as a person so I thought it was about time to create a post about my beloved St Germain en Laye. We moved to Paris when I was 11 years old and me and my sister started Lycée International which is a international school located in St Germain en Laye. Even though it was 2 tough years with non stop studying, no spare time to do any own activities I wouldn’t change it for the world. Being able to get to know people from all over the world, getting new friends from Japan, Germany, Australia, the US and the UK, Italy, Portugal to name a few I’m forever thankful to have spent 2 years of my life in such a multicultural environment, it shaped the person I am.

It meant to much to me to bring Johan here and show him the house we lived in, the area of St Germain en Laye, the stores we shopped in, the beautiful castle of St Germain en Laye and the castle garden, unfortunately the castle garden was closed for the day when we were there so I will have to take Johan with me in the future to show him the castle garden, it’s so beautiful and it has a panoramic view over Paris! I can absolutely recommend you to go to St Germain en Laye the next time you are in Paris if you are in the mood of discovering something new! It’s a beautiful area with so much history and culture!

MY CHILDHOOD HOME IN ST GERMAIN EN LAYE.

When you come up from the RER, this is the sight that will greet you!

Hotel de Ville of St Germain en Laye!

A part of the beautiful castle of St Germain en Laye!

Our home on Rue de Lorraine in St Germain en Laye!

Our next door neighbours, I remember that they had a horse in their garden, I could see the horse from our house and I remember wishing to have a horse in our garden as well haha!

Walking home from the bus station that took me back and forth from school looked like this, a route I did probably over 1 000 times during those 2 years.

I remember all those weekend breakfasts and lunches that we had on our terrace (Up on the right side corner), it was such beautiful terrace with views both over the garden and the street!

The buildings straight across the street from our house!

We always bought our fruits & vegetables in this very shop, bread at the local boulangerie, chicken at the rotisserie and the rest of the food at Monoprix!

Showing Johan around the beautiful square of St Germain en Laye! This is where we did most of our shopping during the weeks!

This is the exact same fruit & vegetable shop that my mum and I always went to buy vegetables & fruits at, I was so happy to see that the shop was still there and going strong!

The wonderful square of St Germain en Laye! If you walk straight across the square you will come to the Monoprix store where we always went!
